Automatic Generation of Literary Texts: Greek Mythology

چکیده
Currently, there is some scientific interest on studying creativity and how it can be modeled by computer programs. One of the active subareas focuses on the generation of text, with some prior success systems. In this paper, we describe an example of this kind of system that automatically generates texts related to Greek mythology. We have elaborated on ideas coming from computer creativity, such as Brutus architecture, and narrative theory, such as tales structure or Greek texts, taking as a model Homer’s books. The implementation is based on a production system, whose knowledge base is represented as an ontology, and we have borrowed also ideas from Shank’s conceptual dependency.

متن کاملCorrelation between the Eponyms of Medical Sciences and Mythology
The medical terms currently used are derived from a variety of sources. These terms are often derived from an eponym. Eponyms are a long-standing tradition in medicine. Eponyms usually involve honoring a prominent physician-scientist who played a significant role in identifying the disease or the person who first reported the disease or the area where a disease first broke out in there. Eponyms...
متن کاملA Computational Model of Text Reuse in Ancient Literary Texts
We propose a computational model of text reuse tailored for ancient literary texts, available to us often only in small and noisy samples. The model takes into account source alternation patterns, so as to be able to align even sentences with low surface similarity. We demonstrate its ability to characterize text reuse in the Greek New Testament.
متن کاملComputational Methods for Coptic: Developing and Using Part-of-Speech Tagging for Digital Scholarship in the Humanities
This paper motivates and details the first implementation of a freely available part of speech tag set and tagger for Coptic. Coptic is the last phase of the Egyptian language family and a descendent of the hieroglyphs of ancient Egypt. Unlike classical Greek and Latin, few resources for digital and computational work have existed for ancient Egyptian language and literature until now. We evalu...
